LGM suggests Rand Paul’s filibuster could have focused on what drones are already doing rather than what they might do someday to Americans. This may reflect that Paul’s generally very supportive of extremism in the war on terror. And, of course, it won’t have as big an impact as the ongoing filibuster blocking a key court appointment.
•A woman says “carry a gun to prevent rape” is just as blame-the-victim as “dress modestly to prevent rape.” The response was ugly.
•Apple and Amazon have both proposed systems that let e-book owners resell their digital books. Unlike hard copy, the companies would get a cut.

•Ta-Nehisi Coates reminds us that racism is only part of man’s inhumanity to man. which doesn’t make American racism any less of a problem.
•Major banks are quite happy helping payday-loan userers. The loans often push people’s accounts into the red, which lets the banks make money on overdraft fees.
•Reporter Will Bunch says if the Philadelphia school district can’t do better than it’s opening contract offer, teachers should go ahead and strike.
