For 10 years I had a day job as a reporter for the Destin Log in Northwest Florida, covering city government, arts and entertainment, and whatever else comes up. Since moving to Durham, NC to be with my fiancee, I’ve been freelancing on ehow and working on other projects.
On my own time I write—primarily fiction. but I’m also the author of three film reference books, The Wizard of Oz Catalog, Cyborgs, Santa Claus and Satan and Screen Enemies of the American Way.
I regularly blog on myspace.com/fraser_sherman, but since commenting isn’t possible except for myspacers, I thought I’d add a second venue and see if I got more responses (not a lot, but my readership has certainly grown)
In case you’re curious, here’s a list of my fiction available, either online or to order.
Peace With Honor is now out in the Kindle anthology, Monster Earth. In a world where kaiju are the ultimate weapons, what happens when America’s monster goes head-to-head with the creature attacking our troops in Vietnam?
•The Wodehouse Murder Case is out at Azure Valley. A high society mage with a secret finds himself falling for his best friend’s girl. Then everyone ends up trapped at a country house party with fog cutting them off and a killer among them! A comedy.
Heads Up! is out on Every Day Fiction. A man with a desperate need to wash his underwear discovers a very unhelpful head in his brother’s washing machine.
•Everybody’s Doing It:

, fall 207
-What if your actions set the moral tone for the world?
•Learning Curve:
http://www.byzarium.com/learning_curve
-A week in a science teacher’s life in a world where the laws of science are a little bit different.
•Atoms For Peace: Big Pulp. All subsequent stories in the series—Claws That Catch, The Spider Strikes, Fire from Space, Blood and Steel, Hidden Faces, The Mind That Wanted the World, Not in Our Stars But in Ourselves, Mayhem Ex Machina and Instruments of Science——are up there too.
•The Sword of Darcy can be ordered in hard copy as part of the More Scary Kisses anthology. It’s Pride and Prejudice with Conan of Cimmeria in the Darcy role.
•Original Synergy is available at Chaos Theory.
-What happens when all the world’s conspiracies try to work out their disagreements?
•He Kindly Stopped From Me is out from Tales of the Talisman.
-Death stops by a suburban house and asks to borrow the phone.
•Uneasy Lies the Head That Wears the Clown is a podcast on Drabblecast. A Wall Street titan wakes up one morning and discovers he’s a clown. Literally.
My three film-reference books:
•Cyborgs, Santa Claus and Satan.

•The Wizard of Oz Catalog.

•Screen Enemies of the American Way.

And my “Quicklet” on Empire of the Summer Moon.
And here’s my Demand Media profile with links to some of my most recent articles.

Dear Fraser
Thank you for writing about my Tingo Books on foreign words.
I wondered if you might like a mutual link to my English word website or press release details of my ensuing book with Penguin Press on amusing and interesting English vocabulary?

The Wonder of Whiffling is a tour of English around the globe (with fine
coinages from our English-speaking cousins across the pond, Down Under
and elsewhere).
Discover all sorts of words you’ve always wished existed but never knew,
such as fornale, to spend one’s money before it has been earned; cagg, a solemn vow or resolution not to get drunk for a certain time; and
petrichor, the pleasant smell that accompanies the first rain after a
dry spell.
Delving passionately into the English language, I also discover why it
is you wouldn’t want to have dinner with a vice admiral of the narrow
seas, why Jacobites toasted the little gentleman in black velvet, and
why a Nottingham Goodnight is better than one from anywhere else. See

Adam, I would be delighted. I shall add you to my blogroll post-haste.
Hi, nice to meet you !
I recently read He Kindly Stopped For Me this past weekend. You had me laughing out loud. I hope you continue to contribute to Tales of the Talisman. Thanks!
Thanks so much! I intend to, sooner or later–the magazine and I seem to be a good fit.

Just FYI
Superbly written blog, but for the love of god, install a pretty theme.
Having looked at your blog, I’m not surprised you’re noticing the visuals–any particular recommendation? I was glancing through themes the other day, but the range of choices/limited time makes it hard to pick one.
Personally, I like the ones that are nice and clean and clear – maybe something that’s ‘grid’ based (look at me, pretending I know anything about it), but a bit of trial and error can’t hurt. I’m just being facetious, though – rest assured that the current appearance doesn’t detract from the quality of the posts.
Thanks.
