The past was a different country

The only thing I ever look back on the fifties with nostalgia for was the economy. A time when someone could get out of high school, get a job in the factory and support their family. Even buy a house and put kids through college. I think it was great that option existed.
Apparently some people think the option of steady work was some kind of slavery.
